A drink station for the big Thanksgiving feast is essential for a laid back Thanksgiving. Make it seasonal with some pumpkins. This pumpkin floral arrangement gives the display some height and interest. Click HERE to see how I made the arrangement.
If your bar cart is centrally located or strategically placed, guest will never go thirsty at your house. When guests arrive you can offer them a drink easily. They can also help themselves as needed if everything is already arranged.
Make sure to have drinks for all tastes and ages. For Thanksgiving, Pumpkin Spice Root Beer is fun for the kiddos. Beer, Wine, and Moscow Mules are a great mix for adults. Be sure to stock plenty of options so that guests can choose what suits them. Holidays are a time for special treats in my book, so bottled soft drinks, a feature cocktail, and sparkling water are the essentials.
I often ask a guest to play bar tender at parties. It is helpful to have a “job” or a role when you are at someone else’s house. It gives you a sense of belonging and sure does help the host provide a great party for all guests. Not everyone is up for this task, but you know the people in your life that would love nothing more than to play bar tender, right? They are the ones with the gift of service. They recognize when the drinks are low and need to be refilled. They are great conversationalists and naturally know how to mix a drink. Give them all the tools they need and full access to your fridge to fulfill their duty as the bar tender.
Add a little seasonal decor like a rustic bowl with pumpkins. How about a felt board with a seasonal message? This “GRATEFUL” display is a subtle reminder of the posture in which we celebrate Thanksgiving.
Putting cozy items like chenille blankets and lumbar pillows in a basket next to it is a great idea. It says “Take me! I’m here for YOU!” It allows guests to grab things to make themselves feel comfortable after a big meal. When that tryptophan kicks in, they will be all cozy to relax and sit for a while.
Whatever you serve your guests this Thanksgiving, put it all together in a central location so that they can help themselves to something special!
