Serves 10
A delicious, easy pumpkin shaped cheese ball. Perfect for a fall gathering. A centerpiece for Halloween snacks before trick or treating or appetizer before the big Thanksgiving feast!
- 16 ounces of shredded Sharp, Cheddar Cheese
- 1 package of Philadelphia Cream Cheese (softened)
- 1 8 oz. tub of garden vegetable cream cheese (you may substitute chive and onion if you can not find garden veggie)
- 2 teaspoons of paprika (for a spicy cheese ball add 2 teaspoons of spicy or fiesta ranch packet instead of paprika)
- 1/2 teaspoon of chipotle chili pepper (you may substitute ground red pepper)
- 1 Broccoli stalk or Bell Pepper stem
- Parsley for granish
- Combine cheddar cheese and the next 4 ingredients in a bowl. Mix until all ingredients are combined.
- Dump the thick mixture onto a sheet of plastic wrap. Cover the entire mixture with plastic wrap and form into a ball.
- For best results, place 3 rubber bands around the ball to create pumpkin like grooves. You may also use a thick string or twine. If none of that is handy, have no fear, you can just create lines with a dull knife after chilling.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours. You may chill in the fridge for up to 3 days before serving.
- Unwrap the plastic wrap and place the cheese ball on a serving dish or board. Lightly dust the top and grooves with paprika. Place a washed stem from broccoli or a bell pepper in the center of the ball. Place a handful of parsley at the corner of the stem for additional garnish.
- Serve with crackers, celery, apple slices, and/or carrots.
- Enjoy!
- I've been making this cheese ball for over 15 years and it is always a hit!! I have made it so many ways- hence all of the substitute options above- and it is ALWAYS good! I've even added finely diced green onions and finely diced bell peppers for a heartier cheese ball. I hope this pumpkin cheese ball makes it to your next spread with friends and family!
